Burton Custom Smalls: Best Boy’s Snowboards

In the last few years Burton has really stepped it up for youth snowboards. I even heard a few years ago that kids stuff had the most R&D dollars spent of the entire brand line-up. Because of this investment, youth riders can get quality snowboard with adult technology that has been adapted for youth riders.

The Custom Smalls is the center-piece of the boy’s Burton lineup. The Custom Smalls is one of the few youth snowboards to have a rocker/camber combo (most are just rocker or camber). Like the adult version(Burton Custom), this gives you the playfulness and looseness of rocker with the edge hold and carving of camber. Everyone wins! This means the snowboard can rip-up the entire mountain–groomers, powder, trees, jumps, terrain park and any other mischief your kid encounters (on purpose or accidentally). It is an ideal snowboard for a kid who wants to ride the whole mountain and keep pace with family and friends.

The snowboard comes in 5 sizes that accommodate boys between 70 to 130 pounds and will work for a beginner or intermediate+ rider.

What size snowboard to buy?
Select the snowboard size based on your weight according to the manufacturer’s guidelines. If you are between sizes, going with the smaller size can be easier to learn on. Snowboarders can often ride more than one size of the same snowboard.
