Excellent website! Last year I wanted to learn how to snowboard, I’ve been skiing for 35yrs. I was one of those guys who always wondered why they let the snowboarders on the mountian, but got a wild hair and thought I’d give it a try. I found several youtube videos on how to snowboard. There were several videos showing guys turn by pointing where you want to go (chimpanzee arms). Then I found your website. Wow, a profession site showing step by step how to snowboard. I followed your beginner lessons step by step. No lessons needed at the slopes. It really helped speed up the learning curve. By mid day, I had it. It was great fun. I’m using your site this year to brush up and advance my skills. Thanks for the great site!

I deffinatly love the idea of practicing to some music as when i try to do this i think i tend to increase my tempo too quickly and get out of sync with where my board and bail lol

I ride 24 inches wide with about 20 degrees on the front and -15 or so on the back.

Thanks for your dedication to making snowboarding more accessible, everyone loves your videos! I have been trying to ride switch better, and am wondering if an increased angle in back will help with this, currently riding about 20 in front and -6 in back. I am going to increase the back angle a few degrees next time on the mountain, just wondering what an expert thinks. Establishing stance is a bit mysterious to me, I have changed it three times already and I think I am getting closer to “my stance”.

Hi Dave! Thanks for the support! It sounds like you are on the right track with your stance. For some people more back angle can help with switch, but some find it doesn’t matter. Testing out new stance angles little by little is pretty much the best way to arrive at you stance. Stance is pretty much mysterious to me too.

One idea for a video – ‘Buttering’. I really want to learn how to do that ‘penguin walk’ with buttering, as I think it would be very useful for flat spots and gentle inclines. If you guys did a video, that would be great.

i really like your site.
My problem is that when i go strait the snowboard keep moving like im not in control looks like the bindings were loose.Also i feel like i cutting all the time instead insted to go more strait,like i feel scare of the speed and i go in big curves.Its only 6 times i tryed untill now,and i feel like maybe sky will be better for me.Going in side way its not easy,lol.
